Since we briefly talked last meeting about the possibility of giving out condoms, maybe we should make a statement of affirmation regarding birth control

I don't know if we have a format to follow, but I was thinking something like:

Recognizing that birth control methods prevent pregnancy and that some methods can prevent certain STDs such as HIV, and recognizing that abstinence only sex education is ineffective and often misleading,

We affirm our support for birth control methods, including but not limited to condoms, birth control pills and the "morning after" pill

We affirm our support for having these methods easy to access without fear of judgment, harassment, ostracism or embarrassment

We condemn abstinence only sexual education and those who seek to promote abstinence only at the expense of a wider program that includes the use of birth control devices

We affirm that women have the right to engage in sexual activity without the fear of an unplanned pregnancy
