It's on a bunch of news outlets but here is the Free Press story:  http://winnipegfreepress.com/breakingnews/story/4180412p-4769958c.html
CTV:  http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/story/CTVNews/20080531/god_poll_080531/20080531?hub=TopStories&s_name=

Some interesting things I noticed:

If all of those identify as atheists, 25% would make us more than the evangelicals and any other denomination except Catholic.  And politicians in Canada really only need 30-something percent out of the 60ish percent who vote to make a majority government, yet somehow we managed to elect an evangelical conservative.  And politicians who talk about secularism like Dalton McGuinty get called out and attacked in the media.  Svend Robinson got sent to the backbench of the NDP, the party most associated with secularism, a few years ago because he presented a petition by HAC to remove the reference to god from the Charter.

There is the age division there as well, with young people much more likely not to believe in a god.  I suppose it would make sense, since young people these days are exposed to more new ideas through the internet and it seems like we are more secular these days.

Rural Canada is only 7% more likely to believe in god, yet is seen as more bible-belty... I wonder if it isn't so much the percentage of believers, but a different kind of religion preached in rural areas as opposed to urban areas.

Some of the comments on CTV are depressing

Thanks for the link; very interesting study. Of course, I'm always weary of these kinds of stats because I don't know the sample sizes and the like, but I'm still heartened by the results. And I think a story like this is important... If more politicians realize that they're missing out on a big demographic, then perhaps we'll be included in more discussions.

Well, it did say within 3.1% 19 times out of 20... there is a way to calculate the sample size from that, which I learned about in statistics and later forgot... The numbers do seem to make sense though
