I'd be down for going (it looks more interesting than the first talk we went to). The talks are usually about an hour long, right? So the talk goes from 3:00 until ~4:00. Even if the meeting starts at 4:30, we wouldn't be there super late anyways - 6:30 instead of 5:30. It's not a problem for me to stay later but I don't know about other people.

I guess it really depends on how many other people want to go to the talk.

I wouldn't mind going to the talk, and it wouldn't be a problem if it went a little late. I know physics isn't the most exciting field, but I'm sure a few people would want to go.

But this is theoretical physics! That shit is off the hook.

Okay, well, unless someone voices concerns, then I'll send out an email about going to the talk instead of having a traditional meeting; since there probably won't be time for much discussion after the talk, we could talk about the talk on the forum afterwards instead.

Oh, and yes, I am pretty sure the talk is <= 1 hour.

Can't go to the business meeting? Hmmm... well, we'll just have to tell you the results of our discussion then.

The minutes will be posted, but you'll miss out on all the witty banter.... Cool

Also, I think we should have the business meeting at Degree's.

Just a thought.

I'll be able to go to the business meeting, I meant I can't go to the regular meeting or the physics fun

Is anyone going to the lecture tonight, "Why can't time run backwards?" ? I am considering going seeing as my background in physics is pretty much non-existent and I may not understand tomorrow's lecture... Sad

So should we meet up somewhere before tomorrow's lecture so that we can sit together?

I say we just gather outside the second-floor entrance to 200 Armes. I'll wait around there for a bit anyway, though chances are I'll get bored, go inside and look for people I know.

Updated with this and a bit of next week's topic.

As a general question, is the structure of these meetings acceptable? This week, I'm hoping to improve things a bit by having coffee and tea available. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I think coffee is definitely a step in a great direction. If the group is interested, I can provide some cookies to go with said refreshments.
